The author of the thesis, Halldór Matthías Sigurðsson, is a twenty six years old engineering student from Iceland. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland and is finishing his M.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering from the Danish Technical University.

Prior to working on the thesis the author had among other worked as an intern at Iceland Telecom R&D 2000-2003 and at Icelandair Engineering Department 1998-2000.
